We’re Moving To New Zealand

Only enjoyable through a window.Photo courtesy of Ryan Holst on Flickr. I despise the cold weather. If you follow me on Twitter you probably already know that because of all the complaining I managed to do (I know, me complain? Never!) when the windchill here was -16°F for several days in a row. Luckily, Texas weather changes really quickly and today we broke record highs by making it to 85°F – I’ll take that in […]

My Cattle Dog Is A Criminal

Highjacked Bouncy Ball Last week I was taking the trash out and Mae, our 5 year old Red Heeler, brought me this ball to play fetch. She is a fetching machine, seriously – as long as you throw the ball (or frisbee, she is actually partial to frisbees) she will bring it back to you. Anyway, so what’s the big deal? Well, that ball is not ours. No, that ball belongs to Callie & Brunson, […]

These Are My Hairy Kids

Since my post this weekend will be a lovely story concerning one of our dogs and her misbehaviors, I figured I should go ahead and let you all meet them. How could you not love those goofy faces?? Yes, we’re the crazy dog people. Black & White With Crossed Eyes – SageFlying Red Dog With Pointy Ears – MaeFluffy Cotton Ball With Long Tongue – Wrigley  Who else has an animal they love? Cats? Dogs? […]

Desk Repurposed To Kitchen Island

Since we moved into this house in July of 2009 I have really wanted a kitchen island, but the ones I found were either ridiculously expensive, too small for our space, or really ugly tablesonwheels type contraptions. I knew I wanted something big-ish, because we have a relatively large area to fill, and I knew I didn’t want the regular cabinet-look that so many islands have. I had a little time off after the holidays and when […]

It’s Raining Mud

We’ve had a lot of interesting new experiences since moving from the Houston area to West Texas in 2009. Other than our first year married, new jobs and medical school, we’ve also witnessed a few things unique to this area. Some truly beautiful: Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets Pretty snow days that get you out of school Some just plain awesome: 82° F weather in late December Authentic mexican burritos larger than my forearm Ground squirrels so friendly […]

Christmas Gift Awards for 2010

We’ve had our Christmas gifts for a couple of weeks now, so I thought it might be time I share with you some of my favorites.** I mentioned in the last post that we are absolutely spoiled so don’t get all up in arms that my family so totally rocks more than yours, you’ve been warned. Without further ado, my top ten list of gifts and their awards for Christmas 2010: I really love to cook […]

Merry Sick-Mas

Hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas (or Hanukkah or St. Nicholas Day or hidefromyourcrazyfamily day or whatever holiday you celebrate)! We’ve had a nice break, but everyone on our end has been sick with the same upper respiratory infection/cold (coughing, sore throat, mucus nastiness) for the past week. We are gradually feeling better, but taking it easy for now. I’ll be back from my Holiday Hiatus later this week with a post about all […]

It’s Because I’m Green, Isn’t It?

If I had a dollar for each time someone has called me cuddly-as-a-cactus since my previous post I’d have a million dollars. Okay, that’s a total lie – I wouldn’t have any dollars (which is not so different from the amount of dollars my bank account has, so I’m in good company), but I did feel very judged after admitting my aversion to Frosty the Snowman. So, in attempt to reconcile with my audience the four of […]

Then I Broke An Old Lady’s Zygomatic Process

….okay not really, but if I wasn’t anti-oldladypunching I would have. It’s probably a good thing I hold this stance on using my fists to show 70 year old women what I think, otherwise there’s a good chance I would have earned myself a nice new set of silver bracelets yesterday afternoon (and this blog post probably would’ve been titled very differently – ex. “How I Got Kicked Out Of Medical School”). Anyway, let’s start at […]

Thanksgiving Vacation

Our family! Well, I’m back from my almost 2 week Thanksgiving blogging hiatus. I know you’ve all been sitting around since November 17 throwing a party wondering what I’m up to, so I’m here to force you to read some more about my life. I failed the second test of my life (both of which have been in med school). It was only by 7 tenths of a point, though and I think I’ll get at […]

About The Author

I'm an ObGyn. I started this blog as a medical student (some would call that doctor school) and now I'm working as an Ob/Gyn, which is seriously the coolest job ever. I'm a twin mom and recently added a baby brudder to the mix. My life story through November 2010 can be viewed here. The events in the many years following can be summed up as wedding bells, books, exams, babies, and doctoring. I started this blog in hopes of landing a role in a Lifetime movie so I could quit medicine and move to Hollywood, but that hasn't happened...so if you wouldn't take medical advice from Angelina Jolie, you shouldn't take it from me. I may not even be a real person. In fact, I'm probably a spambot. Or possibly a 15 yo boy blogging from a dingy basement. If you're really interested you can read more about me here. If you have any questions or want to guest post contact me.
